State Bank of India (SBI) is set to introduce revised cash withdrawal charges for Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) account holders from October 1, 2026. Under the new structure, customers will continue to receive four free cash withdrawals every month, giving them a fixed number of no-charge transactions for accessing cash.
Once the four free withdrawals are exhausted, additional cash withdrawals will attract a fee of ₹15 plus applicable GST per transaction. The move could have a greater impact on customers who frequently depend on cash for day-to-day payments and transactions.
The revised rules will also count cash withdrawals made through the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) within the four-transaction monthly limit. Customers using different cash withdrawal channels will therefore need to keep track of their total monthly transactions.
SBI, however, will continue to allow digital transactions without such restrictions under the revised structure. The change highlights the bank’s continued push towards digital banking while modifying the charges applicable to cash-based transactions.
For SBI customers, the key takeaway is simple: four cash withdrawals will remain free each month, while every additional withdrawal will cost ₹15 plus GST from October 1, 2026.
